Tværgående sti gennem Adriater havets kyst og bjerger

The total length of the transversal is 138 km and is conditionally divided into six sectors (Orijenski, Bokokotorski, Lovćenski, Paštrovački, Crmnički and Rumijski) with fifteen control points and three mountain peaks: Zubački kabao (1894m above sea level) on Orjen, Jezerski vrh (1657 m a.s.l.) on Lovcen and the top of Rumije (1595 m a.s.l.).

A number of marked hiking trails are connected to the transversal, starting from the south from the sea coast or from Cetinje and Lake Skadar from the Central region of the country. These are mostly former caravan routes that connected the coastal and continental parts of Montenegro. Those departing from Risno, Kotor, Budva, Petrovac and Bar stand out in terms of attractiveness.

The special attraction of the transversal is given by the fact that most of the hiking takes place along the ridge part of the mountainous hinterland of the Adriatic Sea with a large number of outstanding viewpoints. Exceptional views of the Montenegrin coast with the open view over the sea and entire south, the Central region of the country with basin of Lake Skadar and the mountains chains in the Northern region of the country.
View pints from Dobraštica, Subra, Zubački cable, Ledenica, Zalaz, Đerinsko vrh, Krsc, Jezersko vrh, Koložunski greda, Mojanski vrh, Brajić, Kosmač hill, Mijovića karst, Triroga, Sutorman, Bijeli skala, Rumija peak and Loška na Lisinja.

On the Transversal route, there is a large number of former military fortifications that were built in the past but also in earlier centuries on the border of Montenegro and the former Turkish and Austro-Hungarian empires. Among them, Crkvice, Kosmač and Sutorman are certainly the most famous.
A special natural interest of the area of Orjen, Lovcen and Rumija is the very high level of annual precipitation, which is among the highest in Europe (Crkvice 8,000 mm/m2). However, due to the pronounced karst character of the soil, this area lacks natural sources, and therefore the water supply on the Transversale route is significantly limited, especially in the summer and autumn months. In addition to a small number of springs, stone cisterns and wells built in former rural settlements are used.

Hiking along the entire transversal of Adriatic Mountains lasts continuously for up to ten days, depending on the readiness and speed of movement of the mountaineer.

Transversal can be spoken from the Central region and the South region of MNE. Namely, the Transverzale route is crossed by all the most important roads leading from the Mediteranien to the Continental part of Montenegro, such as: Herceg Novi - Grahovo, Risan - Grahovo, Kotor - Cetinje, Budva - Cetinje, Petrovac - Podgorica and Bar - Virpazar.
